What this site publishes

Business licenses as the City of Chicago publishes them. The City's separate file of business owners is never downloaded. When the legal name is a person's name, this site shows the trade name only; with no trade name, the record is searchable, on no list, and shown without an address. No list of revoked licenses is made.

This site provides applications using data that has been modified for use from its original source, www.cityofchicago.org, the official website of the City of Chicago. The City of Chicago makes no claims as to the content, accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any of the data provided at this site. The data provided at this site is subject to change at any time. It is understood that the data provided at this site is being used at one’s own risk.

What your browser sends

No analytics, no advertising, no cookies. Searches run in your browser against static files. A click on a referral link is counted (site, link and page — no visitor identifier). The host (Cloudflare Pages) keeps ordinary server logs.

How we are paid

• Dated reports and Pro access.
• Referrals: pages and records can carry one of two links — to a micro1 video-data program for businesses, or to Registres, an independent data gateway. This site may be paid a fee if a business that applies through one of these links is accepted. No one pays to appear here.

Corrections and removal

The data is a public record. If something is wrong, or you want an entry removed from this site, write to us: we cannot change the official file, but this site is not the government.
