How to read these records

Account and site

The City gives each business an account number and numbers its sites. One record here is one site of one account. Chicago addresses are listed by community area; businesses located elsewhere, by their city.

Current licenses

A license is shown as current when the City file marks it issued and its expiration date is on or after October 2, 2026.

History

The file holds one row per initial application, renewal or change since 2002. The record counts them, gives the date of the first one and the license types. “Cancelled during the term” and “revoked” are the City's statuses, with the date of the change; the file does not say why.

What is not here

Owners' names (a separate City file, not used here), violations, inspections, and the licensee's legal name when it is a person's name — the trade name is shown instead.
